Ygrene Announces $24,000 Charitable Donation to Support Renovation of Westside Domestic Violence Shelter

ORLAND, Calif., – Ygrene, a national leader in energy efficiency and resiliency financing, today announced a $24,000 donation to support the renovation of the Westside Domestic Violence Shelter in Glenn County, California. Ygrene’s charitable contributions helped complete essential upgrades and repairs to the over 60-year old facility this month.

The Westside Domestic Violence Shelter provides invaluable support for victims of violence in Glenn County and beyond including housing, court advocacy, and counseling for survivors.

“Ygrene is committed to doing right by our customers, our employees and the communities we serve,” said Mike Lemyre, Senior Vice President at Ygrene. “Giving back locally is an essential part of our company values, too. We hope our donation and support for the Westside Domestic Violence Shelter make an impactful contribution to their mission.”

In addition to financial support, Ygrene was able to leverage its expertise in contractor training, oversight management, and knowledge of energy-saving PACE products and apply them to a charitable project.

“We are profoundly grateful to Ygrene for funding our renovation project and assisting us with the installment of new windows and other upgrades throughout our facility,” said Suzi Kochems, Executive Director at Westside Domestic Violence Shelter. “Through the donation, Ygrene has helped us create a reliable, safe space where victims of domestic violence can find sanctuary, assistance, and comfort when they need it most.”

“Since its creation nearly ten years ago, I have had the opportunity to work closely with the Westside Domestic Violence Shelter. I am extremely pleased to see the shelter receive these much-needed upgrades,” said Glenn County Supervisor John K. Viegas. “Contributions like Ygrene’s, along with the shelter’s new leadership, bring it one step forward to breaking the cycle of domestic violence.”

Ygrene’s donation was part of a multi-step renovation project that Kochems enacted upon assuming her new role as Executive Director of the shelter in December 2017. The Westside Domestic Violence Shelter renovation project was completed in partnership with Selig Construction.

“The staff at Selig Construction were more than accommodating for our shelter’s needs – as well as the weather,” said Kochems. “Working with their team was an absolute pleasure.”
