Each year, Governing Magazine hosts a Public Officials of the Year awards dinner in Washington D.C. to honor individual state and local government officials for their outstanding accomplishments in the public sector. The honorees are extraordinary public servants who provide distinguished leadership, strong management expertise and good governance. This year, Governing Magazine selected Chris Castro, Sustainability Director for Orlando, Florida as one of the “2018 Public Officials of the Year for State and Local Governments in America.”
